Additional post-graduate training is required to become a dental specialist. State licensing boards accept either degree as equivalent, and both degrees allow licensed individuals to practice the same scope of general dentistry. Generally, three or more years of undergraduate education plus four years of dental school is required to graduate and become a general dentist. Both degrees use the same curriculum requirements set by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation. Universities have the prerogative to determine what degree is awarded. There is no difference between the two degrees: dentists who have a DMD or DDS (both have same education). Dr Shrestha and I did everything in our power to comfort you and keep you comfortable.Dentist: A dentist is a person who is qualified as a doctorate in dental surgery (D.D.S.) or dental medicine (D.M.D.), licensed by the state to practice dentistry, and practicing within the scope of that license. It was extremely tacky of the Gish practice to charge you - they don't need the money and they should have a heart. He is the finest dentist I know and my family & I continue to use him as our dentist at his new practice in Seymour, CT. Epinephine causes a sudden rapid heart beat, and it can easily be confused with a heart attack. You NEVER had a bad reaction before, so there was no way of knowing you would have one. I doubt if you had a heart attack (which wouldn't be our fault anyway) - you most likely felt the affects of the epinephrine (adrenaline) that the lidocaine we administered contained. I asked you for any valuables you wanted me to hold onto for you and called your emergency contact. Dr Shrestha called 911 while I set up the portable O2 tank. I happen to be an EMT who is trained in advanced first aid and worked on an ambulance crew. I can understand his anger at being charged for the office visit, but that was not up to Dr Shrestha WHO DID EVERYTHING RIGHT. I was the assistant when John B was taken to the hospital. when i ask her if the cavity on my wisdom tooth is big or not, she replies "it might be." I finally wised up and am now about to start the process of transferring to a new dentist and having my x-rays sent there. she also (which I guess all/most dentists are probably guilty of) tells me I should schedule an appointment to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed because one of them has a cavity on it. So.we go from a "small cavity" to a "possible root canal?" This all sounds very fishy to me. meanwhile, this dentist tells me that my i "might or might not" need a ROOT CANAL during my next appointment. i go in again and AGAIN only have one of my 4 remaining cavities filled by another dentist. he does the smallest one that doesn't need to be novocained, concluding the appointment by telling me i'm still going to need to come in 2 more times. I FINALLY get in there thinking they are going to take care of the whole left side of my mouth, but instead the doctor (while barely acknowledging me and talking over me to his assistant the whole time) tells me he's only going to "have time" for ONE of my five cavities - and not even one of the bigger ones. My RESCHEDULED appointment is also cancelled the day of - I reschedule again, in the meantime finding out I am going to have to make "two visits" to get my cavities filled. My appointment is cancelled the day of - I reschedule. I am told I have 5 "small cavities" after a cleaning - I schedule an appointment to have them filled. DO NOT GO HERE! Spare yourself the absolute misery, frustration and subjugation to this practice's incompetence.
